Where are our gay and lesbian leaders?

Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday causes me to wonder-Where are our gay and lesbian leaders? Where are our voices that speak with such commanding voice as his against the attacks on our community? Why is it we don't seem to have any one single voice speaking as a national conscience when it comes to gay and lesbian issues? Why does it seem that all we hear from is the religioius right conservative leaders who speak against us? It seems as if we are not able to find out collective voice- as it may be. It concerns me as well that we are letting our detractors define us.
